I have and older Kenmore 70 series Heavy Duty washing machine (110.82870100). The last few loads I'd heard a grinding/ratcheting sound from down in the bottom...but it kept working. Last weekend (during a wash) the machine stopped on the spin cycle and would not restrart. I drained the washer (by hand) and did a bit of research.
