It was running rough (wouldn't idle with Choke or otherwise) after I left the bike sitting for about two months without draining the float bowl. I cleaned out the carb and the pilot jet was clogged. I think the answer for you for saving bucks over the FCR carb is getting the Mikuni pumper from the older DR dirt model (TM33SS) and getting it bored out to 36mm. I pulled the carb and cleaned each of the jets and fuel screw and sprayed carb cleaner in their respective holes. I also used one of those compressed air cans to try to blow out any gunk.
