300 norma vs 338 norma

The 300 is 10" less wind for a full value 10 mph wind. Drop is a win for the 300 with 129" less drop. The both go subsonic in the 1900 range so thats a wash but even there the 338 only hold about the same 120-150 energy lead all others in the 300 favor. But with that said as a hunting rifle I really like the 338NM.

This is because the round is so efficient and it packs a punch down-range. So, why did it get passed up in favor of the 300 Norma? The 338 Lapua kicks more than the 300 Norma (heavier bullet) and the narrower 30 cal bullet from the 300 Norma is performing better when launched at high velocities.The .338 Norma and the .338 Lapua are almost identical in terms of cartridge dimensions, with just a slight change in the case length. That's $1210 total. I'm pretty sure you can get a nitrided Kelby atlas cheaper with the recoil lug and base included.
